Welcome back to The Brick Guru! I just finished building my custom LEGO beach, and I’ve packed it full of fun details, clever techniques, and storytelling moments that you can easily recreate in your own city. Whether you’re building a coastal town, a relaxing resort, or a vacation getaway, here are 14 creative tips to inspire your next build.

🌊 1. Rolling Waves with Natural Flow

Most LEGO beach builds feature large waves—great for surfing, but I wanted a more calm, rolling shoreline. I used:

  • 1×1 slopes near the shore
  • 1×2 tiles toward the water’s edge
  • 1×2 plates for gentle elevation changes

This combo creates a more gradual transition and natural-looking water movement.

🌊 2. River Currents Meet the Sea

Where the river flows into the ocean, I mimicked chaotic currents using:

  • Randomly-angled 1×1 slopes
  • 1×2 tiles placed in various directions

This helps simulate the real-world turbulence when fresh water meets salt water.

🛥️ 3. Jet Ski with Wake Effects

My lime green and black jet ski includes:

  • A standing minifigure (just like a real jet ski!)
  • Trailing waves made with 1×1 slopes and 1×2 plates

And yes, he has a duck tattoo—a quirky beach detail!

🐬 4. Jumping Dolphins

Using transparent 1×1 round bricks under the dolphins’ bellies, I gave the illusion of dolphins leaping from the water.

🐾 5. Seaside Wildlife

The beach wouldn’t be complete without its residents! You’ll find:

  • A crab eating a fish
  • A parrot, oyster, and husky walking the beach

🏖️ 6. Realistic Shoreline and Sand

To get that layered beach effect:

  • White plates + trans light blue tiles near the shore for shallow water
  • Dark tan plates for wet sand
  • Tan plates for dry, warm sand farther inland

🌴 7. Palm Trees with Flex Tubing

My palm trees use:

  • Flexible LEGO hosing for natural bending
  • 1×1 round bricks for the trunk
  • Topped with palm leaves on 2×2 green plates

They bring tons of tropical vibes to the scene!

🪑 8. Beach Chairs & Towels

For reclining fun in the sun:

  • Custom chairs made with 1×2 modified plates with clips and bars
  • Jumper plates and tiles for smooth surfaces
  • Beach towels built with 1×1 tiles, and 1×1 plates to stop minifigs from rolling away

💤 9. LEGO Hammock

Yes, it’s a rare cloth LEGO piece, but if you have it, it makes the perfect minifig-size hammock!

📸 10. Buried in the Sand Scene

A fun beach scene:

  • One minifig buried in the sand
  • Another striking a pose with a cute girl taking their photo—classic LEGO humor!

🚿 11. Beach Restrooms and Showers

The public restroom area includes:

  • Toilet and changing stalls
  • 1×2 grill tiles to simulate water drainage
  • Shower stalls with dark tan tiles to mimic water runoff

Fun fact: draining directly into the sand? Technically an environmental no-no!

🚉 12. Subway Station by the Sand

A blue ticket building holds a park ranger selling subway passes. The path from here leads to:

  • A bridge to the marketplace
  • A trail to the waterfalls
  • And a playground for kids waiting for the train

🏠 13. Vacation Beach House

Across the river, you’ll find a lime green vacation home featuring:

  • An outdoor grill
  • Kitchenette
  • Cozy blue bed upstairs for resting after a long day in the sun

🦈 14. Ty vs. The Shark

Last but not least: Ty is on a mission to catch a shark. He’s armed with shark repellent, fishing in deep ocean waters during a storm. It looks like his bravery paid off—he caught one!
