Top 3 Childhood LEGO Sets

When I (the Brick Guru) was younger, I would browse the LEGO catalog to gain inspiration and add items to my birthday and Christmas wish list. Some of my favorite sets from my childhood are:

When I was roughly 6 years old, I first laid eyes on the LEGO Viking Ship when my uncle got it for his birthday. I enjoyed the massive dragon sail on the ship. The ship also featured a flick fire missile system which could shoot fire darts at the sea dragon. As a young boy, the Viking armor was a massive hit (and when Viking Helmets recently went on sale at the Online PAB store, I bought more). I still would put this very high up the list as one of the greatest LEGO sets of all time.

Set 7475 was one of my first large LEGO vehicle sets. Even though the Fire Hammer Monster Truck was the only set that I owned for this genre, I loved the dinosaur vs human theme. I like that the monster truck was about as large as a 16×32 baseplate and it featured a flick fire system similar to the Viking Ship. I also liked the rare dinosaurs that came with the set and I would often use the dinosaurs in my medieval fantasy battles.

Because I love deep sea exploration, I really liked the Aqua Raiders sets as a child. Scuba diving to find treasures while fighting off sea creatures gave me 10,000 Leagues Under the Sea Vibes.

Fun fact, as of writing, we have only explored 5% of the ocean. We currently know more about space than we do about our own oceans which is why I’m so intrigued with sea exploration.
